Endoscopic procedures are done through a minimal incision, to relieve compression of the neural structure.
In this normal anatomy is not disturbed, thereby speeding up the recovery time. It is indicated in the patient with a herniated disc, thereby causing backache and pain in the legs. It is also indicated in lumbar canal stenosis where the spinal canal is narrowed and neural structures being compromised.
It is done here by the Destandau method, with Karl Storz instruments and equipment (HD camera).
The patient is usually discharged home on the same day or the next day of the surgery.
